Nicholas P. Connon

For over 30 years, Mr. Connon has represented multinationals, major corporations, and businesses, partnerships and executives in a wide variety of industries, including the entertainment, defense, financial services, energy and chemicals, and manufacturing sectors.  His practice focuses on high-stakes litigation. Mr. Connon litigates in a variety of arbitral, judicial, and governmental forums and jurisdictions throughout the United States and abroad.

Mr. Connon is the founder and Managing Partner of the Firm and also serves as Chair of the Firm’s Middle East Practice Group, recognized as 2015 Middle East Litigation Law Firm of the Year in California.  He regularly travels to the Middle East and Europe to assist clients with legal and business matters abroad. He is actively involved in a number of international bar associations and is the former Chair of the International Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Prior to establishing the Firm, Mr. Connon worked at the international law firm Proskauer Rose LLP.  The breadth of Mr. Connon’s litigation experience is reflected by the variety of litigation and counseling matters that he has handled during his career.  The areas of law that are the focus of his practice include:

COMPLEX BUSINESS LITIGATION/ARBITRATION
Mr. Connon represents and counsels defendants and plaintiffs in a broad range of civil litigation and business matters.  These include multi-jurisdictional disputes, unlawful business practice matters, unfair competition cases, class actions, mass actions, misappropriation of trade secrets, contract disputes and business torts, toxic tort and environmental contamination cases, real property disputes, insurance coverage on behalf of policy holders, corporate investigations and fiduciary duty litigation.  Mr. Connon also has extensive appellate experience in the state and federal courts in the United States.

INTERNATIONAL LITIGATION/ARBITRATION

Mr. Connon represents multinationals, businesses and executives in connection with transnational litigation and international arbitration matters.

EMPLOYMENT LAW
Mr. Connon represents employers and executives in virtually all phases of employment litigation and counseling, including defense of lawsuits involving claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, wage and hour claims, workers’ compensation discrimination, employee health benefits, drug testing, privacy and workplace surveillance, whistleblower lawsuits, and defamation lawsuits.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LITIGATION
Mr. Connon represents clients in disputes involving trademark and copyright violations, trade secret misappropriation and other areas of intellectual property law.

MEDIATION AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Mr. Connon has extensive experience representing and assisting clients in mediating a broad range of disputes and using a variety of alternative dispute resolution processes and procedures.  His experience includes mini-trials, mock jury evaluation, conciliation processes, working with experts for evaluating claims and issues, fact-finding procedures, and early neutral evaluation.  Mr. Connon serves as a Federal Court mediator for the United States District Court in the Central District of California.  He also serves as a private mediator helping parties to resolve their disputes and avoid the risks and costs of litigation.  Mr. Connon frequently mediates cases, both as a mediator and as an advocate for clients, that have cross-cultural issues and challenges, given his international experience and the scope of his legal practice.
