ROBERT DE BY SPEAKS AT MCNAIR CHAMBERS SEMINAR ON CONFLICTS OF INTEREST IN INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION: RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

On October 18, 2015, Robert de By spoke on a panel discussing Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration: Recent Developments sponsored by McNair Chambers in Doha, Qatar.  The seminar provided participants with a forum to discuss the latest developments relating to conflicts of interest and bias in international arbitration, including:  amendments of institutional rules; revised IBA Guidelines on Conflict of Interest (and application by English courts); arbitrator challenges before ICSID, other arbitral institutions and local courts; third-party funding of arbitration claims; and use of covert (ethical/legal?) surveillance of arbitrators and lawyers (arbitration between Croatia v. Slovenia).
