Peter E. Schnaitman

Of Counsel

 

Mr. Schnaitman handles trials, complex litigation, and appellate litigation.  His practice includes  defense of products liability, toxic torts, business disputes, theft of trade secrets, employment claims, breach of contract cases,  and class action defense.  Mr. Schnaitman also has extensive experience structuring and drafting commercial agreements and other contractual arrangements.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schnaitman was associated with large and mid-sized firms in Los Angeles, Orange County and Ohio.

 

Highlights of Mr. Schnaitman’s professional achievements include the following:

 

•  Oversaw, handled, and coordinated all litigation nationwide for a large Midwestern-based manufacturing client;

 

•  Defended large telecommunications company in four-week antitrust trial involving claims of alleged tying of telephone service and telco equipment;

 

Represented law firm in trials arising out of  partnership disputes and claims arising out of the recruitment of partners;

 

• Served as primary counsel for a large generic pharmaceutical company coordinating all litigation nationwide and in Multi-District Litigation arising out of a recalled drug;

 

• Coordinated nationwide product liability litigations for pharmaceutical and automobile manufacturers;

 

• Represented clients through all phases of numerous  trials through verdict and appeal, including those involving an easement dispute, a defamation action against a state university, product liability actions against various manufacturers, and contract disputes;

 

• Represented a pharmaceutical company in a theft of trade secrets dispute relating to a second generation COX-2 inhibitor drug;

 

• Represented the State of Ohio at the trial and appellate court levels in classifying the claim priority of state entities in the liquidation of an insolvent insurer;

 

• Obtained favorable summary judgments for a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer;

 

• Authored numerous publications, including “Building a Community Through Workplace E-Mail: The New Privacy Frontier,” 5 Mich. Telecomm. & Tech. L. Rev. 177 (1999).
